David Burnett, the founder of Burnett Media Group, is a veteran communications strategist who has successfully counseled some of the nation’s most influential corporate, government and non-profit leaders and their organizations for more than a decade.   Mr. Burnett, a skilled content creator and storyteller, has also produced dozens of compelling video and audio programs for his clients.

Mr. Burnett enjoys writing and in 2006 created Sports Sense (http://sportssense.net) a widely-read sports website that takes a common sense and thought-provoking look at our fascination with sports and the athletes and issues that capture our imaginations.

Mr. Burnett’s communications background is rooted in journalism.  He spent two decades as a successful television reporter and news anchor.  He won more than a dozen awards including the Emmy for his reporting.

The last 13 years of his news career were spent at WTTG-TV in Washington, DC where he anchored the top-rated weekend edition of the 10 O'Clock News, and developed and coordinated the station’s highly-regarded reporter-training program.   He also taught broadcast journalism at Howard University in the nation's capital.

Mr. Burnett was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He earned a B.S. degree in Telecommunications from Ball State University, in Muncie, Indiana, where he also played college football and served on the university's Human Relations Committee.  In April 2012, Mr. Burnett was selected as Ball State’s Department of Telecommunications Alumnus of the Year.

He is the father of two adult children, David Jr. and Janet.
